Jacob has a new addition to his bedroom (like he needs anything new in there).
When we purchased the new washer and dryer, they gave us a "free" (yeah, OK) TV with our purchase. We already have a TV in the three main rooms of the house (everywhere except the boys rooms), so Mike and I decided to put one of the older TV's from the office in to Jacob's room, and to put the newest TV in the office. I asked Mike to also put the VCR (ancient, I know) and extra DVD player in Jacob's room since he always asks to watch the Disney movies we have that are on VHS tapes.
Needless to say, the kid scored big this weekend in the electronics department (yes, our four year old has a TV, DVD and VCR in his room...don't judge).
He is LOVING his new entertainment center!
See Jacob all the way to the right, and his TV all the way to the left....
and of course, pics of the sweet babe
We all have snot nosed (EW) colds right now (wanna come over for a visit?), so there has been lots of sheets and clothes washing (which I don't mind since I am loving the new washer and dryer). For some reason though, William's cold has him sleeping AWESOME! He slept 9 hours straight last night!! Is it wrong of me to hope his cold lasts just a few more days....enough to get him in a routine of sleeping long hours like this?? Yes it is, but a mama can dream (can't she?)
Told you I was gonna use lots of parenthesis (didn't I?)

no rest for the weary
Saying that I have been busy is a complete understatement.
Between getting Jacob up, getting him breakfast and dropping him off at school, and getting William home and fed, it is 10am before I know it. Trying to remember to feed myself has become less of a priority! Maybe I will loose the rest of this stinkin baby weight.
I think that my breast milk is finally dried up, I stopped pumping about a week and a half ago. It made me sad. I cannot imagine actually breastfeeding the baby. I would go through withdrawals when it came time to wean!
Our washing machine quit on Sunday. In the middle of a cycle, full of water and clothes. We tried everything we knew to try, to no avail. The result was me pulling the sopping wet clothes out of the washer one by one, wringing them as best I could, placing them in a basket, and dragging said basket across the street to the neighbors to get them completely washed. I really hope no one saw me during the dragging process. The basket was WAY to heavy to lift, so I put it on top of a towel and drug it across the street. The scene may be a typical one here in hick town though, so I'm sure I fit right in.
We headed out on Monday evening and purchased ourselves a snazzy new washer AND dryer (they have to match, don't ya know), front loaders to be exact. Do you know that they charge roughly $300 ($150 each) to get a colored washer/dryer? OK, let me fork out the extra $300 cause I would like my clothes washed in a RED washer. WHAT?! People really think that way? You have got to be kidding me. My clothes will be just as clean coming out of a WHITE washer, thank you very much.
So anyway, our brand new WHITE washer and dryer are due to arrive tomorrow. It is just like anticipating the birth of your child (OK, so maybe it's not exactly like that). I am so excited!
William started smiling last night. It is the cutest thing ever! I looked back in Jacob's baby book, and he did not smile until 8 weeks. William is 5 1/2. We have an advanced little fella...or maybe it's just that I look funny to him and he is laughing at me....I'll choose to believe the former. He will not allow me to capture this precious event on camera. Instead this is the look he gives me:
He is still sleeping great, 6-8hours a night. He is also starting to become a little more laid back...little being the word of focus in this sentence. Not that he is high maintenance, he just likes attention!
OK so hopefully I will have time to start blogging more frequently. I certainly hope so!

all in one week
Total number of shots: 4
Total number of bandaids on legs: 3
Total number of tears shed: countless
Being able to comfort my boys and take away their pain: priceless
William also made one month old this week, Monday to be exact. He falls in the 25% for both height and weight, weighing in at 9# 9oz and measuring 21"
and Jacob is in the 25% for weight, 50% for height. He weighed 33# and measured 39 3/4"
Our sweet little fellas are growing too fast!!

Pre-K4
Today was Jacob's first day of Pre-K4. Although he has been in "school"/daycare since he was 10 months old, he started a whole new school today and there were a lot of changes for him.
His new school is only 3 hours a day, and they don't eat or nap at school. Not to mention he had a new teacher, new friends, and a whole new environment. I was so excited for him this morning, as was he!
He was quite tickled that he got to carry a "pacpack", but wanted to know why it touched his butt. "It is too big mama", he exclaimed this morning when he wore the backpack for the first time. When we got to school I showed him that all of the kids had a big backpack. He seemed satisfied with that. He went right in and sat down, not a tear shed.
When we picked him up (a very quick 3 hours later) he raved about his new school, and listed everything they had done today.
I think this will be a good school year...

PUSH
An email that was sent to me....thought it was worth posting....
A man was sleeping one night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light, and God appeared. The Lord told the man he had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to Push against the rock with all his might....
So, this the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sunup to sundown, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might!
Each night the man returned to his cabin sore and worn out, feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain. Since the man was showing discouragement, the adversary (Satan) decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the weary mind: (He will do it every time)!
'You have been pushing against that rock for a long time and it hasn't moved.' Thus, he gave the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure. These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man.
Satan said, 'Why kill yourself over this? Just put in your time, giving just the minimum effort; and that will be good enough.' That's what the weary man planned to do, but decided to make it a matter of Prayer and to take his troubled thoughts to the Lord.
'Lord,' he said, 'I have labored long and hard in Your Service, putting all my strength to do that which You have asked. Yet, after all this time, I have not even budged that rock by half a millimeter. What is wrong? Why am I failing?'
The Lord responded compassionately, 'My friend, when I asked you to serve Me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all of your strength, which you have done.
Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your task was to push. And now you come to Me with your strength spent, thinking that you have failed..
But, is that really so? Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscled, your back shiny and brown; your hands are callused from constant pressure, your legs have become massive and hard.
Through opposition you have grown much, and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have. True, you haven't moved the rock. But your calling was to be Obedient and to push and to exercise your Faith and trust in My Wisdom. That you have done. Now I, my friend, will move the rock.'
At times, when we hear a word from God, we tend to use our own intellect to decipher what He Wants, when actually what God wants is just simple obedience and faith in Him.
By all means, exercise the Faith that moves mountains, but know that it is still God Who moves the Mountains.

random cuteness
Been a few days since my last post. The days sure fly by now. I always seem to be busy with something!
William has been doing fairly well at night, still only waking up once a night to eat. Although last night, sometime between 3 and 5 am, the battery in the baby monitor died.....and I slept....
I woke up around 5:45 and realized that there was a lack of white noise coming from the baby monitor. I plugged it in, and within 15 minutes, William was beckoning me to his room. I wonder, how long was he awake while I slept...
Jacob has been LOVING his Leapfrog Leapster that we got him for his birthday. The boy spends hours on end playing it. I am gonna have to get him some new games for it very soon. I can't take much more of the same game music over and over and over again.
and finally, some pictures, for your delight.

Happy Happy Birthday
Our big man made 4 years old yesterday.
Four.
years.
Wow!
I cannot believe he is just a year away from starting kindergarten. Oh my.
Let's have happier thoughts, shall we?
Of course, since his birthday was yesterday, I am blogging about it today, a day late. I took both boys to the mall since that is where Jake wanted to go for his birthday (and since I thought it would be the easiest place for me to venture out with TWO kids.)
He played in the kids play area, he ate at soothie king AND chik fil a for lunch (because he wanted both, and it was his birthday, so I got him both. That's how we roll), he built a bear at the biuld a bear factory (a New Orleans Hornets bear complete with basketball and goal, if you must know), and he topped off the afternoon with icecream and chocolate sprinkles.
William was a complete angel the entire time, he LOVES his carseat...
Once home, Jacob requested to watch a movie, so he did. I baked cupcakes for his "party" at school today and made him meatloaf per his request.
After dinner (which he scarffed down in lightening speed), we sang Happy birthday and he opened presents.
Daddy was quite interested in Jacobs' newest Handy Manny toy. So much that he asked Jacob if he could have a turn to play with it. Boys and their toys....
After presents, Jacob asked if William could take a bath in his tub tonight. So I happily obliged.
I think our little 4 year old had a great day.
It seems our little 2 1/2 week old did as well (warning: nose in picture is way larger than it is in real life...)
and today is my dad's birthday. Happy birthday pops!!!!!
