HAPPY Halloween!!

What a happy day it is too!

Jacob had his Halloween party at school today and even though I had baked the brownies for his class on Wednesday night, I had yet to ice them. I couldn't find my icing tip anywhere! So I headed to Walmart this morning and iced the little boogers in the parking lot of his school right before I walked inside!

All I can say about his party was there was an aweful lot of NOISE and not so much else happening. There were 10 three year olds, most in full costume, running around on a nice little sugar high. Jacob was so excited when I showed up that he diddled in his pants....

His teacher attempted to play some organized games with them, but they all kept groping for the candy bowl every chance they got! After the attempted games, they ate lunch. Hot dogs and Cheetos. Right after giving them their hot dogs, however, Ms teacher thought it would be a good idea to put a ginourmous cookie on their plate. Needless to say, all of the cookies were eaten before anything else and they had a replenished supply of sugar in their blood!

All in all it was a fun day for all of the kiddies. Jacob has a good friend, Logan, that he talks about often and I included a picture of him and his buddy. The little boy wearing the spider man costume cracks me up. That kid is hilarious....he is a little redneck in the making!!!! Oh yes, and the picture of me, beautiful as it may be, is what I felt like after Jake's preschool party.....

Now for the best news of the day.....my sister (in law), Mike's sister Courtney and her husband Matt are expecting baby number 2!!!!! Little Emma is 20 months old and she will be an awesome big sister! Congrats Courtney, Matt and Emma!!!!

I will post more pictures tomorrow of our trick or treating tonight. Happy Haunting!!!

Fire up your ovens.....

Halloween is right around the corner....and I have to get baking!

Jacob has his class party on Friday and he gets to dress up. I don't know if I should let him go in his Buzz costume or if I should send him as a fireman. I am planning on meeting him at school for the party and taking him home with me right after lunch. So he won't be wearing it all day at school! I am going to bake the kids some pumpkin brownies tonight. I also have to bake some cupcakes for our neighbors on Friday. They invited us over for a pre-trick or treating party.

I work all day tomorrow so the baking must be done tonight. Let the cooking begin...

Busy busy!

I don't know if we could have fit anymore in to our day even if we had tried!

Jacob had his first (really his second, but since mama forgot the camera last time, we'll pretend like it was his first) visit to the dentist today. Now, before going to the dentist Jacob has to take a prophylactic antibiotic because he has a heart murmur (Bicuspid atrial valve for all of you medically inclined people!). No big deal. You know how sometimes your gums bleed when you go to the dentist, since they are so extra gentle when cleaning your teeth....well Jakey is at an increased risk of infection, going straight to his heart due to the valve problem. Anywho....the dental assistant gets him to lay in the chair and attempts to polish his teeth I am already impressed that he willingly laid down! So once she is done polishing the top teeth, she squirts water in his mouth without warning him and then tries to suck it out and gags him. He flew up to a sitting position and simply states "I don't like the water", thus she was unable to rinse his mouth out the rest of the time we were there! He did let her finish polishing and brushing his teeth, and he let Mr Dentist take a peek at his pearly whites. So, we are good for another 6 months. Still on Fluoride supplements because Jacob refuses to spit out his tooth paste!

After the dentist we went to the mall, where we ate lunch, rode the carousel and gobbled some cookies.

After the mall I decided to swing by the movie theatre to see what was playing because I thought we may take Jacob to a movie this weekend since he has been sleeping so wonderfully at night. Well, big mistake on my part. He thought we were going to a movie today, and since I am the one who feels bad for saying no, in we go to the movies to see 'High School Musical 3'. Now I know you have a few questions:
1. Have we seen the first two?, 2. do we know who ANY of the characters are?, and
3. Is Jacob in to that kind of stuff? The answer to all three questions.....NO!

So why did I take him to see it? Well my friends, the answer is simple. When your baby boy (or girl) looks up at you with big brown eyes and says "Can we see a movie today, please?", well I just had to say, "of course son". Plus, we saw two other kids Jacobs age going in, one boy and one girl that were very excited about it. Well, Jacob was NOT impressed and halfway through asked to go home. To which I replied...."no, mama paid 13 bucks to get us in here and we are staying!" He was a trooper though and toughed it out until the end. I did have to fuss a few times, and by the time the closing credits rolled he was running up and down the isle totally oblivious that the movie had ended. Never again will we go to something like that....we'll stick with Wall-e type flicks.

We also stopped by the duck pond to feed the ducks and ran by Walmart to look for a pumpkin carving kit only to be told that they were sold out....what????? Who runs out of that sort of thing at Halloween time???

Our awesome neighbors let us use their kit and Disney template though and we spent this evening carving pumpkins. It was my first time EVER to do this, and it was not as bad as I has anticipated. I carved the Mickey, and my neighbor carved Donald. It started getting pretty frigid outside so we has to quickly clean up and head in. It is suppsed to get down to 35 tonight!!!!

Oh, and the tee pee pictures were from yesterday afternoon (Sunday). Jacob was playing outside in his tent, and I guess it was colorful enough to attract the attention of the neighborhood kids, because soon we had 8 kids in our yard checking it out!!!

friends

First...Jacob slept until 830 this morning!!! Woohoo!

Now, the main reason for this post...we had some friends over for the (pretty awful) LSU game this afternoon. The guys (2 of Mike's co-workers) brought their children (both 4 years old) with them. The 3 kids overall played pretty good together, but the older two tended to play and run around, leaving poor Jakey tagging behind=( He tried so hard to be involved in their pretend play, but they left him in the dust. I felt so bad for him, it broke my heart. I am sure Jacob will be the same way at that age though. Too old to play with the younger kids!

But, our neighbors came by after the game with their awesome 6 year old daughter. She and Jacob play extremely well together.

Overall we, especially Jacob, had a great day. Minus the HUGE whelp on his forehead the he obtained while running around a corner and crashing in to one of his friends! He is fast asleep, and soon I shall be too.

I really hope the Saints win tomorrow......

g'night.

absolutely blissful

that is how I might describe the weather....it is AWESOME outside today! Jacob and I will have to find something to do outdoors...

We have some friends coming over tomorrow to watch the good ole tigers kick some bulldog butt! Jacob will have 2 playmates tomorrow, they shall have a blast!

Well, I have to run to Walmart to pick up munchies for everyone...

Nothing much going on the last few days...

I spent all day yesterday getting all of my paperwork done for the new job that starts next month, and also for the nursing agency I signed up with. That's right.....come mid November I will officially have 3 jobs!!! What have I gotten myself into? I guess time will tell. But between both of the newest jobs and my current one, I have done 3 drug tests and background checks in less than 2 months! I don't think anyone could accuse me of abusing the drugs even if they tried!

Jacob has been wonderful....seems to be gaining more of a personality every day. Mike read somewhere that 90% of your personality is developed by 3 years of age. I really hope that that is true because Jacob is precious. Some of the things the boy says just crack us up! He is very giving, sweet, tender hearted and kind. He tells us he loves us (unprompted) numerous times a day.

We went outside tonight to play some football with our neighbor and his son. Within 10 minutes Jake was catching he ball when it was thrown to him....impressive considering we never go outside to play catch. It is usually to ride his cars or paint, etc...

We are headed to new Orleans tomorrow to go in search for the perfect bridesmaid dress for my dear friends big day.

It was a bed fairy and pumpkin kind of weekend!

What a nice weekend!!!

The bed fairy finally paid Jake a visit this morning. He slept SO well last night, we went in to his room at 7 this morning to make sure he was still breathing! It was so nice to get a good nights sleep!

We went to the Pumpkin patch yesterday afternoon. The weather has been perfect outside and it was so nice just being out and about, no matter what we do.

We take Jacob here: (http://thfarms.com) every year and we all love it. They have a petting zoo, face painting, tons of pumpkins to choose from, a spot to paint your pumpkin, swings, a real cotton field, and plenty of places to take pictures. They even have a real patch of pumpkins....vines and all! They make slight improvements/changes each year we go.

Here are some pictures from yesterday...can you figure out 1.)why there is a GIANT chicken in the middle of a pumpkin farm and 2.) where do you buy such a thing???

The second to last picture from the bottom is a (fake) cow that the kids can 'milk'. They all LOVE this!

Oh, and good ole LSU won....our Saints were not as lucky=(

this is the story of a bug...

Jacob and I went to the duck pond this morning to feed the oh so hungry ducks. We have never been to this particualr spot before and it was quite nice. The ducks recognized the bread bag however and immediately started chasing us as we were trying to find a spot to settle so we could feed them.

Picture this: 50 ducks, all different sizes. Most were nice, but some of them hissed at us until we threw bread directly at them. They got in fights and quacked continuously, and they ate the entire loaf in 3 minutes flat!! It was a sight. We even walked around the pond taking pictures, Jacob being quite cooperative with my attempts to pose him at spots I liked. We stayed for about 40 minutes and then decided to head to the park.

We were both all buckled in, and I was driving out on to the main road leading to the interstate, when all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye, I see something on the brim of my hat. I assumed it was one of the duck feathers that Jacob had been collecting and bringing to me (you can't get West Nile from duck feathers....can you?) and as I reached up to grab it, I saw it move.....

Ok...let's pause for a minute....what would you do in this situation? You are driving on a pretty busy street with your child safely in the backseat of the car.

Well...I FREAKED out I tell ya. Right there in the middle of the road I flung the hat off of my head and started doing this flailing of the arms type motion and screaming at the same time (not one hand on the steering wheel...). I have to make sure this bug is not on me, or in my hair, or by my feet. So, in addition to flailing around I lift my feet to check the ground...car still in motion. Jacob, of course, realizes I am a freak and says "mama, what's wrong". All I can muster up is "a bug...a bug". He then says "a little one" and my response is....no honey, a HUGE one. I then see the monstrosity of a bug still sitting on my hat in the passenger seat like he is trying to figure out what just hapened.

All I can say is...Thank God it was NOT of the flying variety! I have now regained control of the car (thank goodness no other car was near me during the little freakout), and while steering with one hand I roll down both front windows and seriously contemplate humming my hat out of the window. This was a fairly new hat though and so I picked up one edge of it and slammed it against the outside of the car and it apparently fell off outside.

I must say, I was on high alert the rest of the way to the park, since I never actaully saw the bug fall off, he could still be in the car.....right?

Right before turing in to the park, Jacob says "mama, what is that bug thing on the window?" OH - S*!T I have never flung my head around so fast to look for a bug in all my life. Low and behold a bird had just pooped on the window....whoosh that was close.
