Just a few things going on in the past few days...
Jacob decided to say his first "bad" word yesterday...twice! We are not the best about not cursing in front of him, but daddy is MUCH worse than I am! Jacob couldn't get one of his toys to operate correctly, so he mumbles "dammit!!". It completely took me off guard. One, that he said it, and two that he used it in the right context!! The second time was last night in the bath tub. One of his toys kept falling off of the shelf, and again he says it. He knows it's a bad word, I think it just slipped the second time. When I tell Mike about it he tells me"Oh yeah, I said that in front of him the other day." See, daddy is worse than mommy=)
Aside from unpacking earlier in the week, I had to run a bunch of errands to get everything ready for my new job on the 11th. I had to take a drug screen yesterday, and I thought it was so funny that they would not let Jacob go in to the bathroom with me...people really do that, use their child's urine?????
I also had to go and blow more money on yet another color scrub pants...I already have blue, black and brown but this job requires pink. Oh well, at least now I have a variety...and I get to wear scrubs instead of a suit...always a plus!
On Tuesday I had to complete CPR training for the new job, along with PALS (Pediatric advanced life support) and ACLS (Advanced cardiac life support). None of this was required to work in the NICU, so I had to have it all prior to starting in pre-op.
Jacob makes the big 3 next Tuesday and his party is on Saturday (the 9th). He is so very excited. I am going to attempt to make him a 3-D fire truck cake and it is all he can talk about. Wish me luck!
I work for the next 3 nights, so there will be a little delay in updates until then. Have a great weekend.

Good morning...
This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip. We are eating breakfast before we hit the beach=)
For some reason I am having a lot of trouble uploading the pictures that I have edited, so I may have to create many posts for all of my pictures!
How cute is this!
One of the best...this is Jacob and his little girlfriend Lauren.
This picture was taken on Friday night, right before he became deathly afraid of the water!!!
Collage attempt
This is my first attempt at posting multiple pictures at once. I think you can click on the picture to enlarge it. These are all of the pictures that I edited from this past weekend in Destin. I took over 200 pictures...these are my favorite!!!

We're back...and we're SOOO tired!
Well, the title says it all=) We are back from our much too short beach vacation and we are pooped. Especially little Jacob, who did not get a nap for 3 of the last 4 days.
We arrived in Destin around 4pm on Friday. It was pouring rain when we got there, but this was the only time it rained the whole trip (thank goodness). We were very pleasantly surprised with our condominium. We stayed at the Ariel Dunes (http://www.majesticsunindestin.com/).
The place was 2 bedrooms......a master suite with a king bed, a smaller bedroom with a queen bed and the living room had a sleeper sofa. Fully furnished, including pots, pans, washer and dryer, refrigerator, freezer with ice maker, 2 beach chairs and an awesome balcony that overlooked the gulf! We could not have hoped for anything better, especially the view from our room. I would definitely recommend this place=) We also got a free chair(s) and umbrella setup each day, discounts at the local restaurants, and a discount on the water sports (which Mike took advantage of!).
Initially, Jacob really liked the waves splashing on his feet, but once the first strong wave came and swept him off of his feet (in the first 10minutes) he was done with the gulf of Mexico, it was not his friend anymore!!! So he stayed as far away from the water as we would allow him to go and was as happy as a clam digging in the sand with the shovel that his Gigi got him.
We met some friends of ours there for dinner one night and beach time the next day. Their little girl is about Jacob's age and they love each other.....I promise to post some pictures of them tomorrow. He was great in the car, the DVD player really helped and he bugged my mom most of the time, but she didn't really seem to mind!
All in all it was a much needed getaway and we already cannot wait for next years trip.
Oh...and some random happenings here lately....my very best friend Kim got engaged this weekend.....CONGRATS Kim and Rob!!!!!!! I look forward to the wedding=)
I also put in my official 2 weeks right before we left for Destin. It went well, but I know my manager could hear my voice quivering!!!
Well, I am finally off to bed, pictures to follow soon.................

Going down a new road...
Well, I got the job!!! Now I know each and every one of you is thinking...what job?
I had decided (on a complete whim) to apply last week for a new job at a surgery center in the pre-op department. The hours are PRN, meaning that I can work whenever I want to. No holidays, no nights, no weekends!!!!!!!!!! This job is very hard to come by as a nurse, as there is not much turnover with this type of position/schedule.
It does mean leaving my babies (patients) behind, but it will be a much better move for my family in the long run. I will be able to be home with Mike and Jacob every night now and will never have to worry about working Christmas again!!!!!!!! That alone was worth it for me.
It is all very bittersweet, as it has not hit home that I am really quitting the job I have known and loved for the past 6 years. I have made so many friends and fell in love with so many babies and their families. I plan on doing a little agency work on the side though so I don't loose my NICU skills. I am so excited...what a way to head in to the weekend, and vacation!!!
Have a good one.

we have music!
I am so proud of myself...I figured out how to add music to our little blog=) I hope you enjoy it, and if you have any suggestions on good songs to add, let me know!
By the way, Jacob is 100% better today (yay!). He is at school for a few hours this morning so I can start getting some things together for this weekend.
Thanks for checking in!

we are on the road to recovery!
Thanks for any and all prayers for Jake...he is doing better this afternoon=)
This morning he climbed in to our bed around 730am (late for him) and was sleeping when I woke up around 830am (VERY unusual for him...he is usually hopping all around if we are still in bed at this time!) He did NOT want to get up, so I got up and started to get dressed for his doctors appointment at 10am. I went outside to let the dog out and when I returned I heard him crying....then vomiting....all over Mike's pillow!!!
Sooooo, once I scooped him up and cleaned up the mess he started requesting beakfast. I gave him 2 sips of water and 1/4 of a club cracker and he vomited again=( Needless to say he was quite upset about this, as he was starving (he had only had Jello and a popsicle for dinner last night).
No temperature though.
So off we head to the doctor. As I am unbuckling his seat belt, he starts crying. I knew it was coming but was not fast enough. He vomited all over himself, his seat and the floor. Thank goodness his blankie caught most of it=(
Once inside the doctors office, she checked him out and ran a strep test (by the way...he was 28lbs and 37" tall). The test was negative for strep. So she chalked it up to tonsillitis and a stomach virus combo....yummy!!!
Unfortunately for my baby, he had to have a shot of Rocephin (which has caused some temporary resolve from the vomiting and fever) and a Zofran tablet (also for vomiting). He about freaked out during the injection and kicked his pregnant nurse in the belly!!!!!!!!! He recovered quickly though and is already feeling much better. I think I am taking the night off of work again tonight to make sure he fully recovers before our trip this weekend.
Thanks for thinking about us...aren't you glad you checked in?!?!?!?

to the doctor it is
Well, Jacobs temperature tonight was 103.2!!!!!!! So it was another cold bath (which he did NOT like - who could blame him) and popsicle's and jello for dinner. He looks miserable and just lays on the sofa. I hope he isn't getting the flu. It seems odd in the middle of the summer....
So, we are heading to the doctor tomorrow morning at 10am.
I will update then.

sick
My baby is sick=( It has been a long while since he has been sick, with the exception of minor colds and such. But today, he has a fever... 102.6 to be exact. If he keeps it up he will buy himself a trip to the doctor. We'll see what his temperature is when he wakes up from his nap. I have already given him Tylenol, Motrin and 2 cool baths today. Please send prayers our way that he feels better by Friday, as we are headed to Destin=)

Mommy, Jacob, and ice cream!!!
We had another good weekend. Jacob and I went in to town on Friday afternoon for an old friends wedding. The bride and I were friends in grade school. I have not seen her since Mike and I were married in 2003! She had never met Jacob. He had an absolute blast. Considering we were out until 10:00pm, he was an angel the whole night. For some reason he was insistent on dancing and kept persisting until I finally told him, go ahead baby, go out on the dance floor and dance. He went out there all by himself and danced for a solid 15 minutes. No one else was dancing! Everyone was watching him. One guy video taped him for about 5 minutes and I saw others taking pictures!! I hope I get a copy from my friend, because being the good mother that I am..I left my camera in the car=( He even woke up on Saturday morning and told my mom (we stayed at her house for the night) that he needed his shirt, his tie, and his dancing shoes!!! I did get one picture of us all dressed up before the big night.... Saturday was a day of shopping for my mom and I. Jacob went to his great grandparents house for the afternoon. He is always super tired when he leaves their house....thanks Granny and Grandpa!!!
Saturday evening we returned home to meet up with Mike and go out to dinner.
Today we went to church, then worked out in the yard pretty much all day. About mid afternoon, Jacob heard the ice cream truck and wanted a cool treat. So we flagged down the truck as it drove down the street and purchased a $2.00 ninja turtle pop. (OK, when I was little I KNOW ice cream from the ice cream man was totally under a buck, and ninja turtles were popular back then because my brother had all of the action figures. I am not THAT old!!!)
Shoving it all in before it melts
All done!!!
Up to no good...(doesn't he look like he is plotting an evil scheme!)

Before I was a mom...
Before I was a Mom I made and ate hot meals. I had unstained clothing. I had quiet conversations on the phone. Before I was a Mom I slept as late as I wanted. And never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday. Before I was Mom I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to lullabies. Before I was a Mom I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations. Before I was a Mom I had never been puked on, pooped on, spit on, peed on, or pinched by tiny fingers. Before I was a Mom I had complete control of my mind, my thoughts, my body and all my feelings. I slept all night. Before I was a Mom I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep. Before I was a Mom I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom. Before I was a Mom I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a Mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important. Before I was a Mom I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was OK. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom...Author Unknown

Art is in the eye of the beholder
Today, since daddy is not home and there isn't much to do as it is 92 degrees outside, Jacob and I decided to do an art project. I purchased this little airplane with the paints for $1.00 at a craft store!!!!!! I think I may have to go back and get some more, he really enjoyed it. We had to put it together and then paint it. Very good for a future rainy day project=)
What is with this face!?!?!? Look at his little furrowed brow! There's my silly boy.

More fun!
we had another fun filled weekend...
Saturday was a day of birthday parties....3 to be exact! We went to Mike's co-workers sons 4th birthday at the movie theatre. We saw "Wall-e" which was very cute. Of course all Jacob was interested in were the popcorn and candy! He was very excited that he got sprite too...this is a big time treat for him, as we NEVER allow soft drinks!
Next up was Aidan's 3rd birthday. Michael's 2ND birthday was at the exact same time across town. So Mike went over to Michael's party while Jacob and I went to Aidan's!
Jacob had lots of fun. They had a water slide up which Jacob promptly deflated while Aidan was way up on top. Poor Aidan is so scared of tight closed spaces he had a slight panic attack. But Mrs Dawn quickly re-inflated the slide and the kids continued playing like nothing ever happened. Aidan got a neat little baseball tee as one of his gifts that Jacob was completely obsessed with. However, Aidan is pretty much a pro at all sports already (seriously) while my little amateur is still a typical 2 year old when it comes to swinging a bat=) But I might have to consider this baseball tee for his upcoming birthday, he will only get better with practice....right?!?!?
Needless to say by Saturday night we were all worn out.
On Sunday we tried out a new church. Not that we don't love ours, but we just wanted to get out there and explore a bit. We really enjoyed this new church and will likely go back. They did a lot of the same things our current church does, just more laid back. While we attended the service, Jacob went in to their kids room (which our current church does not have). He made a crown and did some other projects. How cute is he.....

Happy Anniversary!
Well, yesterday (7.11.08) Mike and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary!! The past 5 years have been absolutely glorious and I could not imagine spending them with anyone else!!! Here's to another 60!!!!
Mike worked most of the day while Jacob and I and some friends went swimming in the pool at the health club. The kids had fun as did the moms=)
Last night we made an attempt to find a new restaurant in the area but were unsuccessful when we were told the wait was 70 minutes!!!! (It was already 7pm by this time and we were pretty hungry!). So we went to a place we have been to several times. Needless to say Mike was not impressed and very disappointed with the food and the price. But, we had family time together and that is all that matters. Plus, Jacob ate all of his food!
On a side note, yesterday Jacob was watching his "ABC" video that he loves (thanks leapfrog!). It goes through all of the letters and their sounds. When they got to the letter "K" and they said the sound for the letter, he turned to me and asked me...well if "K" says KKKK, what does the "C" say???? How smart is that....genius I tell ya, pure genius that boy!!!
Have a great weekend=)

A great day!
Jacob and I had a wonderful day today...just the two of us=)
We both slept in until 8 am, that NEVER happens. He is usually up at the crack of dawn!! We had arranged yesterday to meet Aymee and cousin Cooper at the park for 10am. It has been quite a while since Jacob last saw Cooper....since last October or November I think. They have the same disposition and they played so well together......
We left the park around 1115 due to impending rain and Jacob and I headed to the mall. He played for a while in the play area and then he let me shop for a while. He did not complain once, what an angel. We then went upstairs where we rode the carousel (yes, there is a carousel in our mall) and grabbed a quick bite to eat.
On the way home Jacob was telling me something from the back seat, which he has a habit of repeating whatever it is he is trying to tell me until I respond.....
I finally responded with "OK big guy, I hear you" and he promptly tells me "Mommy, I am not a big guy, I am a little guy. I won't be a big guy until I exercise".....how hilarious is that!!!! He has been fixated on Mike's new Bo-flex and he always wants to exercise. We try to encourage that so Mike and I have done workout videos with him and he is so into it....he even tries to do the push-ups!! I have that on video, but have no idea how to get a video on here, maybe Mike can figure that one out.
Anyways, we ended our day with a family dinner, bath, book and kisses goodnight.
I wish every day could be like today.
I love that little guy....

what a weekend!
Well, the weekend is finally over! Whew! Don't get me wrong, we had an awesome one! Mike and I spent some much needed quality time together while Jacob spent some time with all of his grandparents.
We attempted to sleep in on Saturday morning since Jacob is an early riser (630 am), and guess what time we both woke up....6am!!!!! Thankfully we watched a little TV and dozed back off until 930!!!
We did a lot of "home improvement" stuff on Saturday, stuff we try not to do when Jacob is around because he wold be bored out of his mind and that is just not fair to him! We also finally finished the garden in the back yard. I say "we" but it was really just Mike...he rocks! We watched "Mr. Brooks" last night and it was a really good movie...very long but very good.
We were successful in sleeping in this morning until 10am and then we headed into town to get the little guy. Mom and I did some major shopping while meme and Jacob tagged along=) We put a slight dent in moms bank account, but we purchased Jacobs presents from her for the rest of the year!!!
I also got Jacob some much needed new shoes and discovered that we have been cramming his size 8.5 foot in to a size 7 shoe!!! My poor baby never said a word. He just walked around all day with squished toes!
Our return trip home got postponed due to a severe thunder/lightning storm. Jacob was miserably tired and was not about to put up with any of us. He kicked and screamed and finally passed out around 815pm.
We are home now and very tired. I hope everyone had a good weekend. I know we did!

A few more pics from the 4th
Happy 4th!!!!
Happy 4th of July!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We went to Aunt Kathy and Uncle T's house this morning to celebrate not only the 4th, but Grandpa's (Jacobs great grandpa) 75th birthday, Uncle T's 50th birthday and cousin Buddy's 25th birthday. In case you are wondering, there were 3 cakes!!!! We ate way too much and then went swimming! Jacob had a blast and right before we left he got stung (we think) by a wasp=( He took it like a champ, never even cried. Only requesting ice and a band aid and forgetting all about it.
Cousin Buddy and Uncle Andrew
Mommy and Jacob
Grancie and Jacob being silly. Mommy and U. Andrew watching
Watermelon kisses
I love watermelon!!!
Mike and I left Tickfaw and headed home. Jacob went with Grancie and Uncle Andrew to their house for the weekend. Mike and I are quite at a loss as to what to do with ourselves for the weekend. The house is awfully quiet, except for the loud booming of fireworks! So, we went to see "Hancock". It was a very good movie and I would definitely recommend it. We are home now and I am really missing my little man, but I know he is sleeping peacefully at his Grancies' house. Sweet dreams baby, we love you to the moon and back.....
We also had a wonderful 3rd of July!!! On Thursday night (the 3rd) Jake and I made Oreo balls, or as Jacob calls them "mud balls"!! I guess that is what they will be called now since he argues with me whenever I try to tell him they are Oreo balls=) They are basically chocolate covered oreos and are the absolute most scrumptious dessert ever! As you can see, he liked licking the spoon when we were done!

We also attempted to shoot fireworks in the rain last night....it actually worked pretty well. For some reason Jacob was absolutely TERRIFIED when we first started shooting them. I have never seen him scared of anything. He was crying and asking to go inside. Odd since at New Years he wanted to shoot the fireworks himself and showed no fear! But once I got him some ear plugs and he saw the neighbors kids doing them, he joined in and fun was had all around.
Sorry for the post being sort of backwards, but the layout on this blogger is screwed up!
G-night y'all=)
