TGIF

Jacob and I hung out together today. He let me sleep until 9am!!! He woke up at 630(ACK!) and laid in our bed for a bit, then went and got his children's bible and read that for a bit, then he went off and played in his room for a bit! What an AWESOME kid we have! NOT that I intended to sleep that long, or let him be on his own for that long, but I guess pregnancy has me a bit sleepier than usual!

We ran a few errands, ate lunch, and had an afternoon play date with his friend Aidan. They played SO well together. Aidans' mom and I used to work together and she was telling me about the horrible working situations going on currently where she works (where I used to work). I just said a silent prayer, so thankful that I don't have to deal with all of that drama anymore.

We ate at Chili's tonight (a usual Friday night tradition), and the food took over an hour to arrive at our table! All we ordered was a bowl of soup and some Tilapia. We didn't even order food for Jacob! Needless to say, they were on top of it and we got our entire meal for free!!!

I have to work a night shift on Sunday night. I am NOT looking forward to it. I have basically been working day shift since August, with the exception of the one night shift I worked about 2 months ago. At least it is only an 8 hour shift, and I can still catch the Superbowl=)

We are headed to the zoo and to the duck pond tomorrow. It is supposed to be another gorgeous day.

G'night all!

Jesus has boogers too...

Jacob and Mike were headed to school yesterday morning and this was their conversation:

Jacob- Daddy, I am going to give my pink cup to my sister (I bought him a set of cups and one happens to be pink)
Mike - well buddy, we don't know if you will get a sister or a brother, Jesus will decide that.
Jacob - in mommy's belly?
Mike - yes man, the baby in mommy's belly
Jacob - Jesus put her there?
Mike - yes
Jacob - but I don't see him (Jesus)
Mike - well man, just because you don't see him does not mean that he is not here. We look for him everywhere we go.
Jacob - but I don't hear him...
Mike - listen really hard, he is there
Jacob - does he have hair?
Mike - yes
Jacob - and eyes, and a nose....with boogers like me????
Mike - (laughing hysterically), yes man, Jesus has boogers like you...

I was supposed to work this morning.....but an unfortunate accident kept that from happening. I was putting along in my car, chomping on my apple when about 40 minutes in to my drive I hit a wall of dead stop traffic. People were getting out of their cars and walking around the interstate. It was only 5:45 in the am.

I soon found out that there was an overturned 18 wheeler blocking both of the lanes and that it would be there for a while. There was concern that there were vapors leaking from the empty tanker that was being hauled.

My question is....how does an 18 wheeler simply flip over in the middle of the road??? I can understand if he was swerving to avoid something and rolled over in to the median or wooded area, but right in the middle of the interstate...???

Anyway, I had NO CLUE how to get to the hospital via an alternate route, and I was still a good hour away. So I phoned in and told them I would not make it in. I returned home very excited about my free day off. Mike had already brought Jake to school, so I went back to bed and slept a sweet slumber until 11am!!! I have not slept that late since college! I spent the rest of the day cleaning the house.

Tomorrow Jacob and I are spending the day with a friend, a play date of sorts, and Saturday we are hoping to head to the zoo!

Have a great weekend!

Little cook

I spent most of today cleaning and washing clothes....fun fun! I also used my 'shark' for the 4th time since Christmas. That thing is amazing! It cleans so well and only uses steam! No chemicals involved, which is good, since I am not supposed to be handling chemicals while pregnant.

I picked Jake up from school and let him jump in the spacewalk he got from Gigi for Christmas. I thought he would get bored jumping by himself, but he had a blast. Until it started to rain that is! It was a quick sprinkle and God blessed us with a beautiful rainbow to follow.

We then came in and started dinner. Jacob helped! I find he eats dinner better if he is involved in the preparation of it. He even asked to put on his Abraham (apron)!!

So we ate, and now he is pretend cooking with his food and microwave! Mike is at a work related dinner and won't be home until a little later. Biggest Loser is about to start....see ya later!!

can't they stay little?

Woosh, glad to be home!

Jake and I headed to NOLA today for my cousins bridal shower. I (guess) I made the mistake of asking Jacob if he wanted to go and see his cousins today. I assume he thought I meant 'little' cousins, because when we got there and he realized there were NO other kids there, he broke down. It was so sad. My little man was heartbroken. He cheered up quickly though when he saw that cake, colors and candy were involved! He was very well behaved throughout the dinner.

We headed back home tonight, where my awesome husband detail cleaned the house....he even vacuumed!!! Honey, you ROCK!

Jacob had fallen asleep in the car on the way back and woke up as soon as I pulled in to the driveway. He was whiny and fussy, so Mike changed him in to his jammies while I did the same. It was a little early for bedtime (6:45), so he sat on my lap for about 15 minutes just staring at me. We had direct eye contact the entire time while I stroked his little face. I have not rocked my baby boy and stared into his big brown eyes since he was literally a baby! What a moment for me=) All of the memories from his infancy came flooding back and I realized that he won't allow me to rock him for much longer. Soon enough he will be a teenager and refuse to even look at me. Our boy is growing too quick. Why can't they stay little (and well behaved) forever????

I got caught up with almost all of my scrap booking on Jacob, only a few more pages left to go!!! WOOHOO! Now I can start on the next kid....!

Oh, and I have been meaning to post about this but I keep forgetting! I am sure you may have noticed that I (accidentally) removed the hit counter from my sidebar, telling me how many visitors I have per day. Well my computer (the new one) won't let me add it back on. When I think about it, I will add it back from Mikes' computer. Just in case you were being kept up at night wondering about that....

Inauguration 2009

In all of the hullabaloo yesterday, I forgot to post this most important part of history! So that when Jacob looks back on my blogging days (or more likely his wife will be the one reading all of this), he will see that I recorded this historic moment in time. President Barack Obama was inaugurated in to the presidency yesterday (January 20th, 2009). The nations first African American president. Good bless you and all you do Mr President. Lead our country well!

bookworm

Jacob and I spent the majority of Sunday and all day Monday in town with my folks, just visiting. Mike had lots of schoolwork to catch up on and he worked on Monday. While we were there I took Jacob to the nearby park (which is WAY better then any park here). The weather was gorgeous, perfect kite flying weather. Too bad we didn't have a kite! We fed the ducks, went for a walk, and played on the playground. He had a blast.

After the park I swung by babies r us (believe it or not I still buy clothes there for Jacob!). Jacob picked up a pink blanket and stated "mama, this is a blanket for my baby". I replied "well baby, we are not going to buy it today because we don't know if mama is having a boy or girl", to which he adamantly replied "YES, it IS a girl and this is her pink blanket!!!"

Today we swung by the library after I picked Jake up from school. I told him he could pick out a few books for bedtime stories. He was SO excited, suggesting every book he could get his hands on! We settled on six (yes six) books for him and two for me. We got home about an hour ago and he has been 'reading' his books ever since=) What a little bookworm, just like mama!

nothingness

Today, I was supposed to work. But late yesterday afternoon my boss called to tell me that it would be a slow surgery day and that I could take today off. YES!!! I exclaimed, a free day to do whatever I want!

I went ahead and sent Jacob to school since he was cooped up with me all day yesterday. I decided to sleep until 9am, and then I threw on some clothes and a cap and headed to Target. I was going to spend the day scrap booking, but I had no pictures with which to scrapbook with. I went on over to their photo center and printed out some 100 photos, but apparently I walked away from the machine before it was done. Once I got home and sorted through them I realized some pictures were missing. At least none of them were risque (NOT that I take risque photos)! Once I was done with the picture printing, I trudged around Target, mainly in the baby section, looking at all of the cute new clothes there are now for babies. I cannot wait to find out what this bun in the oven is, cause mama is ready to start shopping!

Anyways, once I got home I had to sit and eat lunch, according to said bun in the oven, it was time. I proceeded to eat practically a whole bag of pizza rolls and read more of the novel I am currently entwined in. Three and a half hours later, I jumped off of the couch and headed to pick up Jacob from school, having accomplished absolutely nothing for the day. I cannot remember the last time I had a day to do nothing. Well, really I could have vacuumed and mopped, but hey, my book was a little more important people.

We went to eat tonight at a local restaurant, where Jacob was so excited about the upcoming dessert that he ate ALL of his broccoli and dove right in when the chocolate volcano arrived.

That was my day.....and yours???
