Jacob and I hung out together today. He let me sleep until 9am!!! He woke up at 630(ACK!) and laid in our bed for a bit, then went and got his children's bible and read that for a bit, then he went off and played in his room for a bit! What an AWESOME kid we have! NOT that I intended to sleep that long, or let him be on his own for that long, but I guess pregnancy has me a bit sleepier than usual!
We ran a few errands, ate lunch, and had an afternoon play date with his friend Aidan. They played SO well together. Aidans' mom and I used to work together and she was telling me about the horrible working situations going on currently where she works (where I used to work). I just said a silent prayer, so thankful that I don't have to deal with all of that drama anymore.
We ate at Chili's tonight (a usual Friday night tradition), and the food took over an hour to arrive at our table! All we ordered was a bowl of soup and some Tilapia. We didn't even order food for Jacob! Needless to say, they were on top of it and we got our entire meal for free!!!
I have to work a night shift on Sunday night. I am NOT looking forward to it. I have basically been working day shift since August, with the exception of the one night shift I worked about 2 months ago. At least it is only an 8 hour shift, and I can still catch the Superbowl=)
We are headed to the zoo and to the duck pond tomorrow. It is supposed to be another gorgeous day.
G'night all!

Jesus has boogers too...
Jacob and Mike were headed to school yesterday morning and this was their conversation:
Jacob- Daddy, I am going to give my pink cup to my sister (I bought him a set of cups and one happens to be pink)
Mike - well buddy, we don't know if you will get a sister or a brother, Jesus will decide that.
Jacob - in mommy's belly?
Mike - yes man, the baby in mommy's belly
Jacob - Jesus put her there?
Mike - yes
Jacob - but I don't see him (Jesus)
Mike - well man, just because you don't see him does not mean that he is not here. We look for him everywhere we go.
Jacob - but I don't hear him...
Mike - listen really hard, he is there
Jacob - does he have hair?
Mike - yes
Jacob - and eyes, and a nose....with boogers like me????
Mike - (laughing hysterically), yes man, Jesus has boogers like you...

I was supposed to work this morning.....but an unfortunate accident kept that from happening. I was putting along in my car, chomping on my apple when about 40 minutes in to my drive I hit a wall of dead stop traffic. People were getting out of their cars and walking around the interstate. It was only 5:45 in the am.
I soon found out that there was an overturned 18 wheeler blocking both of the lanes and that it would be there for a while. There was concern that there were vapors leaking from the empty tanker that was being hauled.
My question is....how does an 18 wheeler simply flip over in the middle of the road??? I can understand if he was swerving to avoid something and rolled over in to the median or wooded area, but right in the middle of the interstate...???
Anyway, I had NO CLUE how to get to the hospital via an alternate route, and I was still a good hour away. So I phoned in and told them I would not make it in. I returned home very excited about my free day off. Mike had already brought Jake to school, so I went back to bed and slept a sweet slumber until 11am!!! I have not slept that late since college! I spent the rest of the day cleaning the house.
Tomorrow Jacob and I are spending the day with a friend, a play date of sorts, and Saturday we are hoping to head to the zoo!
Have a great weekend!

Little cook
I spent most of today cleaning and washing clothes....fun fun! I also used my 'shark' for the 4th time since Christmas. That thing is amazing! It cleans so well and only uses steam! No chemicals involved, which is good, since I am not supposed to be handling chemicals while pregnant.
I picked Jake up from school and let him jump in the spacewalk he got from Gigi for Christmas. I thought he would get bored jumping by himself, but he had a blast. Until it started to rain that is! It was a quick sprinkle and God blessed us with a beautiful rainbow to follow.
We then came in and started dinner. Jacob helped! I find he eats dinner better if he is involved in the preparation of it. He even asked to put on his Abraham (apron)!!
So we ate, and now he is pretend cooking with his food and microwave! Mike is at a work related dinner and won't be home until a little later. Biggest Loser is about to start....see ya later!!

can't they stay little?
Woosh, glad to be home!
Jake and I headed to NOLA today for my cousins bridal shower. I (guess) I made the mistake of asking Jacob if he wanted to go and see his cousins today. I assume he thought I meant 'little' cousins, because when we got there and he realized there were NO other kids there, he broke down. It was so sad. My little man was heartbroken. He cheered up quickly though when he saw that cake, colors and candy were involved! He was very well behaved throughout the dinner.
We headed back home tonight, where my awesome husband detail cleaned the house....he even vacuumed!!! Honey, you ROCK!
Jacob had fallen asleep in the car on the way back and woke up as soon as I pulled in to the driveway. He was whiny and fussy, so Mike changed him in to his jammies while I did the same. It was a little early for bedtime (6:45), so he sat on my lap for about 15 minutes just staring at me. We had direct eye contact the entire time while I stroked his little face. I have not rocked my baby boy and stared into his big brown eyes since he was literally a baby! What a moment for me=) All of the memories from his infancy came flooding back and I realized that he won't allow me to rock him for much longer. Soon enough he will be a teenager and refuse to even look at me. Our boy is growing too quick. Why can't they stay little (and well behaved) forever????
I got caught up with almost all of my scrap booking on Jacob, only a few more pages left to go!!! WOOHOO! Now I can start on the next kid....!
Oh, and I have been meaning to post about this but I keep forgetting! I am sure you may have noticed that I (accidentally) removed the hit counter from my sidebar, telling me how many visitors I have per day. Well my computer (the new one) won't let me add it back on. When I think about it, I will add it back from Mikes' computer. Just in case you were being kept up at night wondering about that....

Inauguration 2009
In all of the hullabaloo yesterday, I forgot to post this most important part of history! So that when Jacob looks back on my blogging days (or more likely his wife will be the one reading all of this), he will see that I recorded this historic moment in time. President Barack Obama was inaugurated in to the presidency yesterday (January 20th, 2009). The nations first African American president. Good bless you and all you do Mr President. Lead our country well!

bookworm
Jacob and I spent the majority of Sunday and all day Monday in town with my folks, just visiting. Mike had lots of schoolwork to catch up on and he worked on Monday. While we were there I took Jacob to the nearby park (which is WAY better then any park here). The weather was gorgeous, perfect kite flying weather. Too bad we didn't have a kite! We fed the ducks, went for a walk, and played on the playground. He had a blast.
After the park I swung by babies r us (believe it or not I still buy clothes there for Jacob!). Jacob picked up a pink blanket and stated "mama, this is a blanket for my baby". I replied "well baby, we are not going to buy it today because we don't know if mama is having a boy or girl", to which he adamantly replied "YES, it IS a girl and this is her pink blanket!!!"
Today we swung by the library after I picked Jake up from school. I told him he could pick out a few books for bedtime stories. He was SO excited, suggesting every book he could get his hands on! We settled on six (yes six) books for him and two for me. We got home about an hour ago and he has been 'reading' his books ever since=) What a little bookworm, just like mama!

nothingness
Today, I was supposed to work. But late yesterday afternoon my boss called to tell me that it would be a slow surgery day and that I could take today off. YES!!! I exclaimed, a free day to do whatever I want!
I went ahead and sent Jacob to school since he was cooped up with me all day yesterday. I decided to sleep until 9am, and then I threw on some clothes and a cap and headed to Target. I was going to spend the day scrap booking, but I had no pictures with which to scrapbook with. I went on over to their photo center and printed out some 100 photos, but apparently I walked away from the machine before it was done. Once I got home and sorted through them I realized some pictures were missing. At least none of them were risque (NOT that I take risque photos)! Once I was done with the picture printing, I trudged around Target, mainly in the baby section, looking at all of the cute new clothes there are now for babies. I cannot wait to find out what this bun in the oven is, cause mama is ready to start shopping!
Anyways, once I got home I had to sit and eat lunch, according to said bun in the oven, it was time. I proceeded to eat practically a whole bag of pizza rolls and read more of the novel I am currently entwined in. Three and a half hours later, I jumped off of the couch and headed to pick up Jacob from school, having accomplished absolutely nothing for the day. I cannot remember the last time I had a day to do nothing. Well, really I could have vacuumed and mopped, but hey, my book was a little more important people.
We went to eat tonight at a local restaurant, where Jacob was so excited about the upcoming dessert that he ate ALL of his broccoli and dove right in when the chocolate volcano arrived.
That was my day.....and yours???

wow, has it been a week (almost) since my last post??? I never wanted to be one of those bloggers who only posted once a week!
I have been busy this week, working every day with no time to really even check my email. Yesterday I worked in Lafayette, which is about an hour and a half away. I was driving along, on my way home (I get off and am on the road by 3pm) when about an hour in to the drive I hit a screeching halt line of traffic. This is unusual at this time of the afternoon. Usually I just miss 5pm traffic and make it home about a quarter till five. I soon discover, per the radio, that there is an overturned 18 wheeler some few miles ahead and that is what the delay is. Soooo, I decided to hop off of the interstate and take the only other alternate route home. Well, everyone else must have done the same because I sat in traffic until 640pm!!!! # hours and 40 minutes later I was home. Mike being the awesome father/husband that he is had bathed and fed Jacob and had him in his jammies all ready for bed!
Jacob and I are home today though, just he two of us. It is too cold to play outside, although it is 47 degrees and most would laugh at me for saying that is cold. So, we had a picnic inside, we painted and colored, we practiced writing letters. Now Jacob is sleeping and I finally have time to post.
Not that there is too much going on our way! We are planning on a laid back weekend just hanging around at home. I will be 13 weeks on Saturday and I have not really had any more nausea...YAY! Sometimes I even forget that I am pregnant, that s until I see myself in the mirror right before bathing.....(shudder).
Well, I think I hear Jacob chattering away in his room, lemmie go check on him!

Squirt and Jacob
I got to see (Mike was out of town=() squirt (baby #2) today!!!! I cannot believe how much he/she has grown in just 3 short weeks! I will be 12 weeks tomorrow and squirt already has arms, legs, hands and feet! Just 3 weeks ago none of that was there!!! He/she was bouncing all over and at one point even looked at the camera=) I included an ultrasound picture. The head is on the left, with a hand in the air above the head. The legs are on the right. I cannot believe people have abortions at this point. I cannot believe people have abortions at all, but that is another discussion for another time. Despite the fact that our baby is only about 5 inches long, he/she is alive and completely formed. I never got to see Jacob at this point in pregnancy, so I am really in awe.....God is so awesome!!!!
I also attached pictures from yesterday of Jacob with his tinker toy guitar and microphone.
Enjoy!

Heartbeat!
I am SO excited, I just got to hear baby bug two's heart beat with the doppler that I rented. It came in the mail today!
I know, you must be wondering what am talking about. I rented a fetal doppler when I was pregnant with Jacob from about 13 to 17 weeks because I was not able to feel him move yet and I wanted some connection with him. So I decided to rent it for this one too. It really puts your mind at ease when you hear that little heart beating away! I will be 12 weeks on Saturday, and actually have an ultrasound tomorrow.
It is so awesome, I would definitely recommend it. It only costs me $20 for the month, and shipping to and from is free!
On another note, Jacob and I played with the tinker toys that he got for Christmas last night and I made him a guitar and microphone. I was hilarious watching him play and took some pictures and videos. I promise to post them tomorrow, but right now, the National championship game is starting!
G'night!

all by myself!
I spent the day all by myself today, went to a movie, bought a few maternity clothes.
I was supposed to work tonight, but Mike called me this morning telling me he had to go to New Orleans overnight and wanted me to ask the grandparents to keep Jake man. Well, the grandparents are quite sick, so I called work and rearranged my schedule. Mike informed me this afternoon that he does not have to go after all.
So that meant I had the day to myself! I went to see 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'. It was pretty good, but if you go, prepare yourself. It is VERY long (3 hours) and sad=( Definitely NOT a Mike type movie!
So I am home with the guys tonight and off until Wednesday!
Jacob is needing a bath and dinner beckons, so I must run....bye for now.

movie madness
Mike and I took Jacob (who was way too excited to take a nap today) to see 'The Tale of Despereaux' this evening. It was refreshingly cute. No crude adult humor, very good overall message. He got antsy towards the end. I think he was pretty tired! Would definitely recommend the movie though.
The weather has been awful, and is supposed to remain that way throughout the weekend, so we won't be doing much tomorrow either.
I work another night shift (ARGH) this coming Monday....NOT looking forward to it. At least they are few and far between. I pretty much decided to stick to working normal day hours. Nights are rough, especially being pregnant!
Oh, and that reminds me....I am 11 weeks today=)

more from the holidays
This is about a minute from the 15 minute new years eve display that our nieghbor put on! All of the popping you hear are from that very large firecracker I have pictured below...16,000 jumping jacks all tied in to one huge bundle! (Sorry about being a few days late with it....videos take a while to upload to blogger!!)

Randomness
My dad just emailed me this recent picture of my mom and I, I really like it so I thought I would share=)
We recently bought a VHS to DVD converter to convert all of our old VHS Disney movies so that Jacob can watch them. Since VCR's are a thing of the past, we have one but it is not hooked up. Mike converted the first movie tonight, 'Dumbo'. It came out great! I am so excited!! By the time we get them all converted to DVD, a new technology will come out and DVD's will be obsolete!
Well, the Sugar bowl is starting, lemmie go catch it....

As promised...
pictures from the last week (slightly out of order)!
I have yet to figure out how blogger places my pictures. It does not matter what order I put them in, blogger shakes em up and spits em out in a randomly placed pattern!
Jacob's cousin Emma, Jacob driving his new car from Santa, and a few from last night....check out our fire breathing son, holding the sparklers this year (was pretty scared last year), and yes, that is a picture of the single largest firecracker that I have ever seen....check out the wick (or should I say rope).
Our big man shaving before meeting with family on Christmas Day (a gift from daddy), Uncle T, Emma and Jake, Jacob sporting his reindeer glasses, and Granny and Jake
Shaving (should have been up there with the other shaving picture!), Jesus' birthday cake, Jake mastering the camera to photo mama on Christmas morning, and Jacobs' best gift from Santa
Jacob making his (year old) gingerbread train for Santas' reindeer, cookies for Santa, and shorts on Christmas Eve....

Happy 2009!
Happy New Year!
We had a great 2008.....
-Jacob made 3
-we found out we were pregnant, along with Mikes' cousin and sister!
-my good friend got engaged
-I started two new jobs and made lots of new friends in the process
-Mike got a promotion
But we look forward to 2009 even more! We will have a new addition to our family, as well as a new niece or nephew and a new cousin. Babies are the best gift of all!
We had a great night last night, Jacob stayed up until 12:30am, but fell fast asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. He started strong at 8:10 this morning! The boy does not require much sleep to function. We are home today relaxing after spending the day in town yesterday with Emma and her parents. We hated to say goodbye, we may not see them again for a while. We will miss you guys!
Mike and I decided to book a trip to Disneyland with our vacation club points. We are going mid February!!! YAY! We made the (tough) decision to leave Jacob with the grandparents so we could have a little time away before baby comes!
We are going to buy the picture adapter for my computer today, so I will have pics up soon....stay tuned!
