Yep, definitely sick=(
I had originally scheduled Jacob for a pediatrician appointment at 3:20 this afternoon, but at the last minute decided to keep him home with me today and bumped his appointment up to 10:20 this morning. He woke at 5am needing to potty, and went righ back to sleep. He was fine this morning, playing, ate breakfast (and kept it down) well. Alhough I, on the hand, felt quite nauseaous and dizzy.
We headed out to the pedi and arrived just on time. They took us right back (record speed for them). Dr F said that she doubted that he had a bladder infection, they are just not common in boys, but that she would get a urine sample and test it just to be sure. He LOVED peeing in the cup, and actually wanted to do it again once the first sample was given! He was upset that he was not able to fill the cup up!
Everything came back OK, no infection. She did say that he had a small amount of protein in his urine though (not normal to have protein spill over in to your urine) and that she wants to see him again for a second urinalysis in two weeks. I asked her what it meant if he continued to have protein in his urine, and she said it could mean decreased urine function and that she would send him to see a specialist to have other kidney function tests run. I am not worried at all though. On top of thinking that he had a bladder infection (which, Dr F thinks he is just having bladder spasms - apparently common around this age as they grow) he is obviously suffering from a (hopefully short lived) virus of some sort. He has not thrown up or had diarrhea again today, but he is now running a fever - 102. So I gave him some Motrin and he is napping. He does keep complaining of his belly hurting, so hopefully he won't get sick later.
Poor little guy.
The worst part is that tomorrow I have my glucose testing and 27 week appointment with Dr S, and if Jake is still sick, I will have to drag him along with me. I hope he starts feeling better soon...
He weighed in at 31.8 pounds and measured 39" tall today. He is just 3 1/2 months shy of turning 4!
